Erdem Karaca
SVP, Head Cat Perils, Americas at Swiss Re
Erdem Karaca is the Head of the Cat Perils Americas team at Swiss Re, leading a team of scientists and engineers developing, validating and customizing natural catastrophe risk models for use in underwriting and portfolio management. He has more than 15 years of experience in natural catastrophe modeling and underwriting of property risks.
Prior to joining Swiss Re, Karaca worked at AIG as Director of Property and Special Risks and served as a Mendenhall Postdoctoral Fellow at the US Geological Survey. He holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
