Nicky Hastings
National-Scale Geohazard Risk Project Lead, Geological Survey of Canada at Natural Resources Canada
Nicky Hastings is the project lead for the risk project in the Public Safety geoscience program at Natural Resources Canada. Over the last 10 years, she has been involved in the development and adaptation of risk assessment methods to support the assessment of earthquake and flood risks in Canada. Nicky has worked closely with both local and provincial governments to understand how scientific knowledge from natural hazard risks can be incorporated into decision-making. Currently, she manages a small research team that focuses on the implementation and development of open-source risk assessment tools for earthquakes and floods.
